What is NOVA?

What is NOVA?

The term “nova” describes an astronomical event where a star suddenly brightens, giving the appearance of a new star emerging. In Latin, “nova” means “new”. In the realm of statistics, ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) is a method used to analyze differences among group means. These concepts inspired our proprietary algorithm.

The Genesis of Statellite Nova

Statellite Nova is a new comparative standard that casts a bright light on how we measure athletic fitness and progress. The concept was born during the second iteration of the Statellite application. Recognizing our unique ability to capture vetted data, our team saw an opportunity to not only deliver more accurate physical testing results to recruiters but also to establish baseline standards that help athletes and coaches gauge progress more effectively.

Evolving Through Data

Nova evolves through multiple development phases. Each of our forty fitness events—and any new ones introduced—advances through these phases on a timeline tied to the acquisition of vetted data that meets established event standards.

The initial phase of Nova was developed using data collected over seven years from various reliable sources and published reports. Our team carefully analyzed this data to create the Nova scoring equations for each event, correlating performance with factors like sex, age, and biometric measurements. As more vetted data becomes available, the algorithm continues to learn, refine, and set increasingly precise benchmarks.
