What's with Our Name?
If you’ve ever been asked, “What’s with your name?” you’re not alone. Before we explain the meaning behind our name and its connection to our business, let’s clear up a couple of common misconceptions.
Correct Pronunciation
When you first see our name, it’s natural to think of it as “State-lite”. However, that’s not the correct way to say it. Not only does that mispronunciation evoke images of a glass replacement company, but it also misses the mark on our mission. The proper pronunciation is “Stat – e – lite”:
- The first syllable is “stat” (as in statistics).
- The next two syllables sound like the word “satellite”.
In essence, it’s pronounced like “satellite” with an extra “t”. Our logo is even designed to emphasize “Stat” to guide you toward the correct pronunciation.
The Story Behind Our Name
We selected our name because it perfectly encapsulates who we are and what we do. We proudly embrace “Statellite” as it aligns with our mission of connecting athletes, coaches, and recruiters through reliable physical testing statistics.
At the core of our business lies the analysis of statistics, and merging “stat” with “satellite” not only highlights our focus on data but also symbolizes how we connect sports talent across different geographies and disciplines. Imagine a recruiting tool that evaluates a high school football player for a sport as distinct as Olympic bobsledding!
We appreciate you taking this journey with us and your continued support!
